The Troy-Bilt 31 cc 2-cycle gas trimmer with 17-inch cutting swath and edge guide features convenient EZ-Start choke technology, which allows the user to simply flip the choke, prime the engine, and then give a slow, smooth, easy pull for a guaranteed start. The EZ-Start technology allows the trimmer's engine to engage with 55-percent less effort than most gas models. With its rugged 31 cc engine, the trimmer provides plenty of brawn to power through the most ragged, overgrown growth. The trimmer's professional-style curved-shaft design gives easy access underneath low-growing shrubs. The trimmer cuts in a 17-inch radius and features heavy-duty, 0.080-inch dual lines with convenient bump-head line release.

When it's time to replace the line, the line replacement system is exceptionally easy to load and rewind, all without removing the spool or taking it apart. The entire trimmer feels exceptionally balanced and comfortable in the hand, and the ergonomic soft-grip D-shaped handle easily adjusts for both right and left-handed users. The trimmer comes with all the necessary oil for immediate operation, and is covered by a 2-year limited warranty.

Just follow directions and it starts every time. Started right out of the box and has started on the third or forth pull every time. Edge guard is not worth fooling with but the cord is really heavy duty and doesnt break easily which is nice. I had a weedeater from walmart that wouldnt start or stay running so this is like a luxury model for 20 bucks more.

 "Award for Poorest Engineering" 2010-08-10

This is a true marvel of poor engineering.
-It is very hard to start--right out of the box with new fuel
-The string dispenses continuously, going through about a foot in two minutes
-Putting new string on is a true task in futility-there is nothing to hold it to the spool so it won't stay in place in order to wind on more
-The straight string, which is one reason I bought this, is gone in about 2 minutes
-because of the design, the reel string will curve up around the head--even if it is trimmed very short, the "autodispensing feature" soon has several inches out, and it immediately twists up around the shaft
I did buy this because of the brand reputation--won't ever buy another of their products.
-and oh, the safety guard does not align correctly with the plane of the head--so if you have the guard parallel to the ground, the head throws waste/rocks/stuff up towards you at about 15 degrees ... and if you align the head parallel with the ground, the guard is ineffective and the rocks head right for your ankles--even wearing long jeans, the rocks hit hard enought to cut skin through the denim.

"Troy Built Product and Customer Service" 2010-06-14

I bought a Troy Built weed eater last summer. It is total junk. You spend more time fixing the line than actual weed eating. I would go 15 yards and the line would be gone and you'd have to take the head off and redo the line. The cap is very hard to remove. Plan on weed eating for 5 minutes and 20 minutes getting the head off and getting the line redone. Customer service is as bad as it gets. Mine had an electric starter to use when you didn't want to pull the cord. It died the 1st summer. I will never buy any Troy Built products again. I am going to give mine away and get a Stihl.

 "Troy Bilt sting trimmer" 2009-12-11
By Mossy (Texas)
This is my second time to buy this sting trimmer, I like it, it is easy to start, just like they advertise. I especially like the fact that the string lasts a long time, it is strong and I can run it for about four hours in heavy weeds without having to re-spool. I am pretty old so my shoulder gets tired but I fashioned a harness out of a luggage strap and I can just keep going and going. I would recomend this trimmer, I like it. The reason for buying a second one is I have one for home use now and one for the the pasture at another place.
